At any one time, my daughters might have had six or eight shampoo and conditioner bottles in our shower. With the popularity of long hair, and the need to shower often because of the their athletic endeavors, we churned through shampoo and conditioner bottles at an astounding rate. I wish I had found these shampoo bars sooner!
Enough Bubbles & Unique Shape
Over the past year I have tried several different shampoo and conditioner bars. HiBar is my favorite so far.
Some of the shampoo bars that I have tried were hard to get lathered up, which I found frustrating. After years of using shampoo from bottles, the familiar feel of sudsing up made me feel that the shampoo was working. It also helped spread the shampoo evenly in my hair. Lack of suds was a deal breaker for me. Once you rub the HiBar shampoo bar through your hair it makes enough lather to evenly work it through your hair, and make you feel that you are getting your hair clean.
The shape of these bars also makes them easier to use. I have pretty small hands, and some of the square bars of other brands were harder to handle. These uniquely shaped bars with an angled top fit comfortably in my hand, and easily spread the shampoo and conditioner into my hair.
While these bars are small enough to fit easily in my hand, they last a long time. So, unlike shampoo from a bottle, where it is easy to squeeze too much shampoo into your hand, with a bar you really only use what you need to spread it through your hair. The shampoo bars last about three months for me, and the conditioner bars last about twice as long. I am not sure why I end up using so much less conditioner, but I appreciate that I don’t have to buy it as often!
Details
The line has six varieties for different types of hair:
- Maintain
- Moisturize
- Volumize
- Curl
- Soothe
- Fragrance Free
I store these on a wire rack in my shower where they can dry out. If you put your shampoo on a shelf, you may want to get a soap dish, or The Shower Lift that is available on the HiBar website. For travel, I just wrap these in a Bees Wax Wrap. No problem having to get tiny bottles through TSA when flying.
