Viori Shampoo & Conditioner Bars

I don’t know about you, but we go through a lot of shampoo and conditioner in our house.  Actually, it is an issue with a lot of personal care items–moisturizer, toothpaste, deoderant–but we seem to go through more plastic bottles of shampoo and conditioner bottles than all the others combined.  That is why hair care was one of the first switches that I made, and I have tried a number of alternatives.  I stumbled across the Viori brand online, and I decided to give it a try.

Elegant Packaging Sets The Tone

The first thing you will notice about the Viori shampoo is the beautiful packaging.  Wrapped in paper with gold and silver accents, this is like no other shampoo bar.  The metallic accents and intricate way the paper is folded immediately make it seem unique and special.  You really do feel like you are opening an elegant gift.

When you open up the paper wrapper, the scent is unleashed.  I ordered Hidden Waterfall Sweet Musk scent and it is lovely.   Between the amazing scent and the spectacular package, I was excited to give this product a try.

One thing I did find interesting is that the conditioner is not given the same special treatment as the shampoo.  Wrapped in plain, brown paper, with a simple paper sleeve, the conditioner  is cut into a square with rough edges.  The conditioner has a very different “vibe” than the shampoo!

A Sensory Experience

In the shower, these products did not disappoint.  Once wet, it was easy to get a nice lather with the shampoo bar.  The whole shower filled with the luxurious scent as I massaged the shampoo into my hair.  It really is a sensory experience.  The conditioner was also easy to apply.  Overall, I loved using both the shampoo and the conditioner bars, and I loved that the conditioner was a different shape, making it easy to tell the difference between the two, even after the bars were mostly used up.

Dryness is Disappointing

Unfortunately, after using these products for several weeks, I noticed that my hair was unusually dry.  I thought that maybe I wasn’t using enough of the conditioner bar, so I worked extra hard to make sure I spread the conditioner throughout my hair.  But the longer I used these, the dryer my hair became.  I was sad that I had to give up and go back to my favorite HiBar Shampoo & Conditioner Bars.  That being said, I loved the scent and lusciousness of this shampoo, so maybe I will try again with a different scent–one made for dry hair.

Things I Love:

  • The package is beautiful, though I am not quite sure whether the paper with gold and silver accents is recyclable
  • The shampoo bar and the conditioner bar are different shapes, making it easy to tell the difference
  • Plenty of luscious lather to spread evenly
  • The amazing fragrance
  • Not too pricey

Things I Don’t Love:

  • The Hidden Waterfall Musk scent dried out my hair.
